UALink is considered an important step that will determine the future of artificial intelligence technology.
Eight of the world’s leading technology companies are coming together to set a standard for the next generation of AI accelerator chips. The companies have formed a group called the Ultra Accelerator Link (UALink). This group will bring unity and standards in AI technology, enabling the development of more cohesive and effective solutions in the industry.
Companies joining UALink include Intel, Google, Microsoft, Broadcom, Meta, AMD, Cisco and Hewlett Packard. According to UALink, pods with at least 1024 graphics processors will be standardized and data processing processes will accelerate. A consortium will be established to monitor these developments and set standards.
In fact, this move seems to be a step towards weakening NVIDIA’s dominance in AI and increasing competition by setting standards for next-generation AI accelerators and creating a more open ecosystem. It is not yet clear how NVIDIA will respond to this initiative.
AI systems are built with many small processors, and the communication between them can be complex. UALink aims to improve the performance of AI systems by making this communication easier and more efficient.
As a result, UALink is considered an important step that will determine the future of AI technology. This technology will enable the development of larger and more powerful AI systems and will provide a major advance in the field of artificial intelligence.
