Airport Hotel Okęcie | 12-13 December 2024
We would like to invite you to this year’s edition of the Banking and Local Government Forum, which will be held on 12-13 December 2024 at the Airport Hotel Okęcie in Warsaw, under the motto: ‘Local Governments and Banks of Tomorrow: Synergy of Finance, Innovation and Sustainable Development’.
Organised by the Polish Bank Association, the event provides a unique opportunity to discuss the key challenges facing local governments and banks in the context of future finance, innovation and sustainable development. The main topics of this year’s Forum will be the latest reforms in local government finance, financing sustainable development and digital transformation in local government financial management.
The event programme includes three key debates:
- Debate: The Great Reform of Local Government Finance: Is the new law a game changer for Polish local government?
Local governments are facing new challenges and opportunities as a result of the changes introduced in the regulations on revenues of TSUs. This panel will bring together key leaders from both the local government and banking sides to discuss the impact of the new regulations on the functioning of TSUs. Can the new regulations become a catalyst for positive change and improve public finance management?
2 Capital for sustainable local development – how to finance the transition?
The climate crisis and the growing need for sustainable development require banks and local governments to work together to implement green investments. The panel will explore the role of banks in financing green projects at the local level. Experts will talk about forms of financial support that help local governments meet their environmental goals, energy efficiency and eco-innovation.
3 Debate: Cloud over City Hall: Local governments in the digital transformation of financial management
The digitalisation of local government finances has become a key priority for both banks and local authorities. Automating processes, improving transparency and optimising the management of financial resources are all integral to modern local government. This debate will address digital tools in local government and discuss technologies that can significantly impact the efficiency of public administration.
Panellists include leaders from the banking and local government sectors, as well as experts in finance, sustainable development and digitalisation. The Forum will also present a report on the state of local government finances in Poland in 2024, which will serve as a starting point for a discussion on the future of cooperation between local governments and the banking sector.
Why is it worth taking part?
The Forum is a meeting place for representatives of local authorities, regulators, bankers and experts to exchange experiences and jointly seek innovative solutions in financial management and the implementation of development projects. It is also an excellent opportunity to build relationships and strengthen cooperation for the development of local communities.
For whom?
We would like to invite local government leaders (marshals, starosts, mayors, aldermen, treasurers and directors of local economy), representatives of the banking sector, regulators and experts in the field of local finance. Our aim is to create a space for constructive dialogue, inspiring discussions and joint search for innovative solutions.
